Adi Jaffe

Dr. Jaffe received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2010. Even before he graduated Dr. Jaffe’s name had become known through his online and academic writing. His views on addiction and his research on the topic have been published in dozens of journals and online publications and he has appeared on several television shows and documentaries discussing current topics in addiction and the problem of addiction as a whole. Dr. Jaffe also teaches courses at UCLA and the California State University in Long Beach that address addiction specifically or biological psychology and behavioral neuroscience more generally.

Dr. Jaffe’s view is a holistic one, drawing from the best and most recent research to bring as complete a solution to addiction clients. At Alternatives, Dr. Jaffe serves as the Director of Research, education, and innovation and is in charge of client monitoring, technology solutions, and data collections and outcomes research. His goal is to make Alternatives the best treatment program there is.

Adrienne Webster

Adrienne Webster is a Licensed Addiction Counselor Candidate (LACC) in Bozeman, Montana. She received her B.A. in Media Arts from Montana State University and later completed her graduate studies in Addiction Counseling there as well. She works with clients individually and in group settings while completing her post-graduate, clinical supervision. Adrienne is committed to reducing the stigma that surrounds addiction and recognizes the complex emotional and environmental factors that contribute to substance use disorders and behavioral addictions. She is particularly interested in an integrated approach to treatment and recovery that encompasses nutrition, education, exercise, and community involvement.
Aimee N. C. Campbell

Aimee N. C. Campbell

Aimee Campbell, Ph.D., MSSW, is a Research Scientist in the Division on Substance Abuse at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatric Social Work in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is also a research scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City. Her research focuses on the development and testing of behavioral interventions for substance use disorders and HIV prevention and treatment, including technology-based innovations, with a specific interest in dissemination and implementation processes to increase the use and effectiveness of empirically supported treatments in community settings. Dr. Campbell completed her undergraduate training in sociology at the University of Washington and received her master’s degree and doctorate from Columbia University School of Social Work.
Alexandre Laudet

Alexandre Laudet

Alexandre B. Laudet, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized expert in addiction recovery. Her federally funded research in the past 15 years focuses on elucidating what helps people with drugs and/or alcohol problems quit drinking or getting high, and what helps initiate and sustain recovery. Her primary goal is to build the science of recovery to inform services and policy that remove barriers to and create opportunities for improved lives and long-term recovery from addiction .

Among her major contributions to the field are her studies on the definition of recovery and on the role of quality of life satisfaction in the process of recovery; most recently, research interests also include the dynamic interplay among addiction recovery, chronic medical and mental health conditions, and emerging recovery support models such as the Collegiate Recovery Programs.

Dr. Laudet is the founder and Director of the Center for the Study of Addictions and Recovery at the National Development and Research Institutes, Inc. (NDRI) and also served as Deputy Director of NDRI's Institute for Treatment and Services Research. She provides training and consultancy to U.S. federal agencies such as the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH); to state agencies such as New York State’s Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS); to private institutions such as the Betty Ford Institute and Mayo Clinic's Fountain Center, and to grassroots organizations such as Faces and Voices of Recovery. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for two scientific journals, Substance Use and Misuse, and the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment and is an elected member of the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD).

Dr. Laudet is a social psychologist; she regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals, presents at national and international conferences, and has appeared in TV interviews and in the documentary the Anonymous People.

Allen Frances

Dr. Allen Frances is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and former Chair at Duke University. He was previously chair of the DSM IV Task Force and played an instrumental role in the preparation of DSM III.

He was described by the New York Times as “the most powerful psychiatrist in America” and is the author of the internationally best-selling book Saving Normal, winner of three book awards.

His other recent book, Essentials Of Psychiatric Diagnosis, provides the clearest guide to the use and misuse of psychiatric diagnosis.
